For the past three years, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) has been slowly but surely on his way to becoming Batman on Fox’s Gotham. But now it seems young Master Bruce’s transformation into the Caped Crusader will speed up a bit when the series returns for Season 4, which is set to explore the "darkness within."

Speaking to TV Guide during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, David Mazouz explained where we find Bruce at the start of the show’s fourth season.

“He's really going to be devoting all of his time and all of his energy [to fighting crime]. His purpose at the beginning of Season 4 is going to be training.”

Bruce’s training will be with Ra's al Ghul (Alexander Siddig), who was introduced in the final episodes of Season 3. This one has taken Bruce under his wing (for nefarious reasons, of course), and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actor says that Ra’s will be the one to break what's left of Bruce's innocence on his journey to becoming the Dark Knight.

We’re also told that even though Bruce is doing the whole “standing on top of rooftops with coats that look like capes” thingy, there will be differences between young Bruce’s views of being a vigilante and those of the Batman we all know and love, differences that will be explored when the show returns on Sept. 21.

Are you looking forward to seeing more of Bruce Wayne's journey into becoming Batman on Gotham?
