Though we remember him fondly from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, actor Nicholas Brendon hasn’t done much since he hung up the eyepatch as fan favorite Xander Harris. But he’s finally back on the radar.

The first trailer for Brendon’s new movie, Coherence, has arrived, and it’s definitely ... enigmatic. The film is set on the night of an astrological anomaly and follows eight friends at a dinner party who experience a troubling chain of reality-bending events. The project is described as “part cerebral sci-fi and part relationship drama,” and it’s garnered a fair bit of buzz on the festival circuit.

Along with Brendon, the film also stars Hugo Armstrong, Emily Foxler, Elizabeth Gracen, Lauren Maher, Alex Manugian, Lorene Scafaria and Maury Sterling. Coherence was written and directed by James Ward Byrkit.

Yes, we know Brendon has played some recurring roles in series like Private Practice and Criminal Minds in recent years, but he hasn’t done much with the genre that made him famous among the geek crowd.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think:

Coherence will get a limited theatrical opening on June 20.
