The driver don't pick the car. The car pick the driver. A new trailer for the solo Bumblebee film has made itself known, and it continues to bolster our prediction that it might just be the most heartwarming movie of the holiday season.

We start off with Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld) riding a motorized bike to a used car lot on her 18th birthday. A certain yellow VW Beetle catches her eye and she asks the proprietor if it's for sale.

"It's yours, kid," he says, perhaps giving it to her for free. "Happy birthday."

Little does Charlie know that her latest set of wheels is actually a transforming robotic alien from the planet Cybertron. As the two begin to bond, a government agency (aided by other Transformers) is hot on Bumblebee's trail. According to Shatter (voiced by Angela Bassett), he's some sort of criminal that factors into the civil war war back on Cyberton between the Autobots and the Decepticons.

Watch the trailer below:

Co-written by Christina Hodson (Shut In) and Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen), Bumblebee was directed by Travis Knight, who makes the jump from stop-motion at Laika (ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings), to live action.

John Cena, John Ortiz, Peter Cullen, and Justin Theroux make up the movie's supporting cast of characters.

Bumblebee arrives in theaters on Friday, Dec. 21.
