We’re all busting our blocks over the new Captain Marvel trailer, that’s for sure. But are you as hardcore as Carol Danvers in a biker jacket and a Nine Inch Nails shirt? And by that we mean, did you notice this fun easter egg geared toward fans of Captain Marvel’s recent comic book escapades?

Located in the lower left-hand corner of the poster (by the door), a small glimpse of Chewie, Danvers’ pet, can be seen.

So who is Chewie? Aside from being a Chewbacca reference, the cat-looking creature is actually a Flerken — and she’s about as much a cat as Rocket Raccoon is a raccoon. The Star Wars-named alien lays hundreds of eggs, has tentacles, and is theorized to have mini pocket dimensions located inside her body.

Debuting in Giant-Size Ms. Marvel #1 and getting a name in Ms. Marvel Vol 2 #5, Chewie is a great reference for the film that could help the character of Danvers feel more realistic while allowing for a killer reveal later on. That Chewie can seemingly pull anything out of itself, regardless of size, is a great “get out of jail" card for comic writers and, now, seemingly for screenwriters as Chewie makes her big-screen debut.

Captain Marvel (and Chewie) hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
