Captain Phasma roots out rebel scum in extended new Star Wars Resistance sneak peek

We’re inching ever closer to the one-hour series debut of the next great animated offering from the galaxy way off in the spacy distance, Star Wars Resistance. But if you just can’t wait till next month, here’s a juicy extended sneak peek to quench your thirst — or perhaps make you even thirstier.

Set before the events of The Force Awakens, Dave Filoni’s (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) upcoming anime-inspired in-universe series centers around Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono (Christopher Sean) and his dreams of becoming an ace pilot for the Resistance. But thanks to Poe Dameron (voiced by Oscar Isaac himself), the burgeoning pilot is also tasked with becoming a spy. So Kaz is sent to an outer rim planet to become part of an intrepid team of mechanics and racers, while also embarking on a secret mission against the First Order.

We’ve already gotten a good look at the team surrounding Kaz, and at the always inspiring General Leia, but this new three-minute clip gives us even more of that, as well as our first glimpse of another franchise favorite: Captain Phasma.

Phasma, voiced by her Force Awakens actress Gwendoline Christie, is doing her usual routing-out-rebel-scum thing while ordering a base to be destroyed. But Kaz and company aren’t just here for jokes – which we do get a lot of, as the trailer’s tone suggests — they're ready to risk it all for the Resistance.

To that end, we also get a little bit more of Poe and his trusty sidekick BB-8. And as we learn in the clip, when that happens, “it always means trouble.”

The trouble starts when Star Wars Resistance takes off Oct. 7 on Disney Channel (10 p.m. ET/PT) and DisneyNOW, with two new additional episodes being made available via the DisneyNOW app and Disney Channel VOD.
