We recently learned that James Gunn will direct Guardians of the Galaxy, and now all eyes are on its potential cast. One actor, who's no stranger to Marvel, has set his sights on being a part of the intergalactic team.
Before Chris Evans landed the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America, Scott Porter was one of many actors up for the part. He obviously missed out, but that doesn't mean he's given up his superhero dreams. When speaking to MTV, Porter revealed that he still has comic aspirations.
"Marvel just announced that they're doing Guardians of the Galaxy, which is another property that I love. I read it growing up. I'd love to play Nova or another [cosmic character]."
Porter's a big fan of Gunn's work and thinks Marvel made the right decision. "Gunn is a unique choice," he said. "I think he could be a really great shepherd for that property. I think Guardians is going to be a lot of fun. I think it'll be very cool. I thought the next thing I might try and go after is Heroes for Hire, but it looks like Guardians is around, so..."
Can someone get this guy a superhero movie stat? If Porter's name (or voice) sounds familiar, you probably remember it from the X-Men Anime, where he played Cyclops. He also starred on Friday Night Lights and currently appears on The CW's Hart of Dixie.
