In the wake of Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynchâs dramatic exit from the planned, 9-episodes revival of the series on Showtime -- that was set to air in time for the 25th-anniversary of the show next year -- cast members have launched a campaign put together by Madchen Amick (who took it to Whosay) in order to get Lynch and the network to try and work it out. After repeated rumblings that all was not well with the Twin Peaks revival, this is the soul-crushing announcement Lynch made over the weekend:
"Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently."
With Showtimeâs official response made following Lynchâ public revelation:
We were saddened to read David Lynchâs statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. Showtime also loves the world of Twin Peaks and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm."
So, check out the video below. Oh, and if youâre wondering whoâs who (it has been a few years after all), Spoiler TV has summed it all up nicely:
1st Actor is Sheryl Lee, playing Laura Palmer & Maddy Ferguson, 2nd is Dana Ashbrook - playng Bobby Briggs, 3rd actor is Sherilyn Fenn who was playing Audrey Horne (guess she is with her son); 4th is Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), 5th is Peggy Lipton (Norma Jennings), 6th James Marshall (James Hurley), 7th Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran), 8th Gary Hershberger (Mike Nelson), 9th Catherine E. Coulson (The Log Lady), 10th - Wendy Robie (Nadine Hurley) 11th Al Strobel (MIKE), 12th is Jennifer Chambers Lynch, who wrote the book ''The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer'', she is also the daughter of David Lynch.
One missing face amongst the herd is Kyle MacLachlan, who starred as that cup-of-joe loving, FBI agent Dale Cooper on the cult series. What do you guys think of the Twin Peaks cast members campaign? Do you think David Lynch and Showtime can ultimately work it out? Because Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like...what?
