If you're thirsting for a spellbinding new fantasy series to immerse your mind in, you can raise a wand toward New York Times best-selling author V.E. Schwab's Shades of Magic novels, brilliantly cast amid the fractured dimensions of alternate Londons where perilous sorcery and intrigue lurk around every treacherous corner.

This acclaimed trilogy, comprised of A Darker Shade of Magic (2015), A Gathering of Shadows (2016), and A Conjuring of Light (2017) concerns the adventures and conflicts between royal families in a darkly imagined fantasy realm and courtly magicians with the rare and highly coveted ability to traverse between parallel Londons of Red, Grey, White, and Black. Think Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones!

The series has spawned huge fan communities and attracted the attention of Sony Pictures, who won a bidding war to adapt the books for an upcoming feature film.

Now London-based Titan Comics has hitched their publishing wagon to the award-winningShades of Magic franchise with a fresh prequel series written by Schwab herself titled, The Steel Prince. Injected with compelling art by Andrea Olimpieri (Dishonored), with vibrant colors by Enrica Angiolini (Warhammer 40,000), this new comic iteration will focus on Maxim Maresh, the prince of Red London, who must navigate a gaslamp world to pursue a darker version of his beloved city and faces a fate worse than exile.

"I am so excited to introduce The Steel Prince from V. E. Schwab and dive into the past of Maxim Maresh with the readers," Titan editor Amoona Saohin told SYFY WIRE.

"Creating the visual language and writing the history that shaped the tone of the Shades of Magic trilogy were very fun and rewarding challenges. Victoria oversaw the entire process, down to the minor details such as hair swooping directions, which makes me confident that we are giving out the best representation of this story out there. Artists, Andrea Olimpieri and Enrica Angiolini, were a perfect match for this project and they rendered the panels so beautifully. Even if you haven't read the Shades of Magic trilogy, The Steel Prince can definitely be enjoyed by everyone who picks it up!"
