One of the great things about Riverdale is the casting — yes, the young regulars are all fitting, but it's the casting of their parents that consistently provides an extra meta-level of entertainment. Actors from iconic high-school-based shows and movies of the past are routinely used, with some of them being regulars. Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210) and Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club) play Archie's divorced mother and father, for example, and Twin Peaks star Madchen Amick plays Mrs. Cooper. Some new casting news today continues this legacy.

According to Entertainment Weekly, another "brat pack" member will appear on the show. Ringwald's Breakfast Club co-star Anthony Michael Hall will appear in a flashback episode, playing... wait for it... Principal Featherhead. The name alone is pretty great, especially for a show that once featured a villain called Papa Poutine.

Hall's appearance as the talented Mr. Featherhead will take place in the upcoming flashback episode, which will see series regulars KJ Apa (Archie) and Lili Reinhart (Betty) playing the young versions of their parents. According to EW, Featherhead will be "drawn into a game played by his students."

The episode, titled "The Midnight Club," an obvious nod to John Hughes' classic 1985 film, will air Nov. 7 at 8:00 p.m. on The CW. As always, nothing in Riverdale will ever be the same again.

In other casting news today, Deadline is reporting that Selma Blair (Hellboy) has joined the 10-episode Netflix drama Another Life. The show has already cast Battlestar Galactica legend Katee Sackhoff as astronaut Niko Breckinridge, who will be searching the stars for alien intelligence.

As Niko and her crew explore an alien artifact, Blair will be playing a character on a different side of the story. She is set to play Harper Glass, a 21st-century media influencer. According to Deadline, she'll use "journalism, social media and keen intelligence in an attempt to break one of the biggest stories in human history."

Is the story that she's breaking the same one that is being uncovered by Niko and her crew? It would certainly make sense. Sackhoff already had us on board with this show, but Blair's presence sweetens the deal even further.
