Believe it or not, The Greatest American Hero has found its gender-bending lead, and Detective Pikachu has added a new lead of its own.
Rita Ora will be joining the live-action Detective Pikachu movie in an undisclosed role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The multi-talented British singer and actress (shown below) most recently co-starred in the sexy and successful Fifty Shades series—but she is also well known from her appearances in reality shows like The X Factor and America's Next Top Model.
We're sure that Hannah Simone (New Girl, Old Boy) felt like she was walking on air after finding out she'll be The Greatest American Hero. Deadline reports that Simone (picture up top) will play the lead in ABC's reboot of the '80s cult classic that originally starred William Katt. Fresh Off the Boat creator Rachna Fruchbom and series producer/writer Nahnatchka Khan are executive-producing the half-hour comedy pilot.
The British actress will play an Indian-American woman in her 30s who loves to drink, party, and sing karaoke because she hasn't found her purpose in life—but everything changes when she's entrusted with a suit that gives her superpowers for the purpose of saving the world. Since Fox's beloved New Girl is coming to an end in April, it's time for Simone to become one of the first women of color to lead a live-action network series.
