Taking place during World War II, Season 2 will explore the government-operated Japanese-America internment camps set up after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Takei (known for his iconic role as Hikaru Sulu on the '60s-era Star Trek) spent time in one of these camps when he was just a kid.
Co-created by Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Season 2 of The Terror will follow a young Japanese-American as he attempts to find out just who — or what — is mysteriously killing off people in his community.
Aside from helping the show be as historically accurate as possible, Takei is also playing Yamato-san, a former fisherman and community elder.
Production on the 10 new episodes is expected to begin next month in Vancouver, Canada. They will air sometime in 2019. Derek Mio (G.B.F.) was already confirmed as one of the major characters, Chester Nakayama. Josef Kubota Wladyka (Narcos) is directing the first two episodes.
