Hugh Laurie goes to outer space and Guillermo Del Toro's Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark adds another to its ensemble in our latest casting roundup.
First up, Hugh Laurie has landed the starring role in Avenue 5, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The outer space-set comedy from Veep creator Armando Iannucci will take place in the future, with Laurie playing Ryan Clark, the captain of the titular spaceship. Avenue 5 was initially greenlit by HBO last September. So far, a pilot has been ordered by the network, with additional backup scripts waiting in the wings.
Laurie had previously worked with Iannucci during his recurring role on Veep's fourth season. Production on the pilot episode is expected to take off in London later this year.

Next up, Deadline reports that teen actor Zoe Colletti has signed on to Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark to play the role of Stella Michaels. The film is based on a trilogy of children's horror books by author Alvin Schwartz, which are collections of short stories and miscellaneous urban folklore.
According to Deadline though, the movie sounds like it will be telling a single story, about a group of teens who have to solve a string of sudden deaths in their town. Based on that synopsis, it's likely that Colletti's character is one of those teens.
Guillermo Del Toro was originally going to direct the film but passed the opportunity onto The Autopsy of Jane Doe director Andre Ovredal. Instead, Del Toro will produce the film, which he co-wrote with Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman. The Oscar-winning director tweeted earlier this week that cameras were going to start rolling "in a few days."
It's not yet known when Scary Stories will creep its way into theaters, but will you be keeping one eye open for it?
