Although Elisabeth Moss was the star of The Handmaid’s Tale, Alexis Bledel deserved every bit of her Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. And it seems we’re going to be seeing more of her in the upcoming Season 2.

Spoilers for Season 1.

As we know, Bledel’s character Ofglen suffered an onslaught of agonies before mowing down a soldier in a stolen car. She was hauled away in a van, never to be seen again. Viewers can only expect that she will be tortured, if she’s lucky. But considering the extent of her ill treatment, perhaps she would be more fortunate if she were killed.

But in Season 2 we get to see Ofglen, formerly known as Emily, in flashback form. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emily, her wife, and their young son attempt to escape to Canada while Gilead terrorizes America. Obviously, Emily is caught. We have to wait and see what happens to her wife and child.

Clea DuVall, who stars on HBO’s Veep, will be playing Emily’s wife. We don’t know how many episodes DuVall -- an openly gay actress who has played openly gay characters -- will appear in, but we do know that Bleidel has been promoted to series regular. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more of the standout actress even as we’re cringing at her fate.

Amanda Brugel, who plays Rita, has also been made a series regular. As you recall, Rita now holds the letters of hope Offred left behind. Perhaps she too will be inspired.

Season 2 currently has no air date. We’ll let you know when we do. As we’ve learned in The Handmaid’s Tale, knowledge is power.
