A global detective network of badass women, Norse sailors, and baseball players all collide in our latest casting roundup! How can any of things ever go together, you might ask? Well, our answer can be summed up by the great Jurassic Park founder and visionary, John Hammond...
So, when we said "a global spy network of badass women," what do you think we meant? Of course! It couldn't be anything other than the Charlie's Angels reboot from writer/director/star Elizabeth Banks!
Noah Centineo, star of Netflix's Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and To All The Boys I've Loved Before, has been tapped for the upcoming movie, writes The Hollywood Reporter. While not much is known about the role, the report suggests that he'll strike up a romantic relationship with one of the main Angels, all three of whom will be played by Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska.
Deviating from the source material, the reboot will feature multiple Bosleys (the name for one of Charlie's male associates in the original TV show and subsequent films). The number of Bosleys keeps going up, but for now, we've got Banks, Patrick Stewart, and Djimon Hounsou.
Charlie's Angels arrives in theaters Sep. 27, 2019.
Another bit of casting news heads back in time to the age of the the Vikings.
Noah Syndergaard, pitcher for the New York Mets baseball team, is joining Vikings for the show's sixth season, which is currently filming in Ireland.
Nevertheless, this is some perfect casting, as Syndergaard's nickname is "Thor," the Norse god of thunder, whom the Vikings worshipped. Their pantheon also included deities like Odin and Loki.
Hmmm. We smell a potential MCU crossover here, don't you?!
Just kidding. Syndergaard will guest star in Season 6 as a warrior known as “Thorbjorn, a Viking warrior who is loyal to Ivar the Boneless, who he sees as a God on earth."
Season 5 of Vikings returns to the History Channel for its midseason premiere on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 9pm EST.
Finally today, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Asia Kate Dillon and Golshfteh Farahani (Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) have been added to the voice cast of the animated sci-fi series gen:LOCK. They join an already robust cast, which includes the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams, and David Tennant.
The series deals with a group of young pilots taming giant robotic mechas. Dillon will voice Valentina "Val" Romanyszyn, a former covert agent from the Ukraine that thought she was done with this stuff. Farahani will voice Yasamin "Yaz" Madrani, a recruit to the program from Iran.
According to director Gray G. Haddock (via EW), "I’ve bonded so much with Valentina and Yaz, and what Asia and Golshifteh have brought to the parts. I can’t wait for everyone to meet these characters."
The series will debut on Rooster Teeth this January.
