Rebecca Ferguson will co-star in the Men in Black spinoff after shooting the Shining sequel; a Picnic at Hanging Rock star joins the cast of Dora the Explorer; Bloodshot casts its Wilfred Wigans; and Sienna Miller and Diego Luna will star in a fantastical romantic thriller in this edition of casting roundup. So, let’s strap in and get things started.

First, Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) has been tapped to co-star in the Men in Black spinoff with Chris Hemsworth, according to Deadline. Ferguson has also landed the role of Rose the Hat in the upcoming adaptation of Doctor Sleep, Stephen King’s 2013 novel that serves as a sequel to The Shining

Ferguson will first shoot Doctor Sleep, directed by Mike Flanagan. Ewan McGregor stars as the grown-up Danny Torrance who struggles with the same demons of anger and alcoholism that haunted – and eventually destroyed – his father, Jack. Ferguson will play Rose the Hat, the head of a cult that feeds on the “steam” created by young people who have a touch of the “shining” as they die.

After shooting Doctor Sleep, Ferguson will move onto Sony Pictures’ Men In Black spinoff, which, in addition to her and Hemsworth, will star Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Rafe Spall and Kumail Nanjani.

Next up, the cast for Paramount Players’ live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer continues to grow. Deadline has revealed Australian actress Madeleine Madden will co-star in the Michael Bay-produced (seriously) film version of the animated educational children’s show in an as-yet undisclosed role.

Madden, who recently played Marion Quade in Amazon’s miniseries, Picnic at Hanging Rock, joins a cast that currently includes Isabela Moner as the eponymous Dora and Eugenio Derbez as Alejandro Gutierrez, according to IMDb

The Dora the Explorer series, which ran on Nickelodeon for eight seasons and 172 episodes from 2000 to 2014, followed the globetrotting adventures of Dora, a young Latina girl. Apparently, the movie will be a sequel of sorts to the show, centering on Dora as a teenager moving to the city and living with her cousin.

James Bobin is directing a script by Nicholas Stoller and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. Dora the Explorer is set to swing into theaters on Aug. 2, 2019.

Up next, Lamorne Morris (New Girl) has come aboard the film adaptation of Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel. According to Deadline, Morris will play Wilfred Wigans, a young scientist who becomes Bloodshot’s unlikely ally. Morris has signed on to do two more movies, should the film do well enough to merit a franchise.

Morris joins a cast that includes Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, Toby Kebbell, and of course Diesel.

Bloodshot, which was created for Valiant Comics by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton in 1992 and ran for 110 issues, is about a mortally-wounded soldier resurrected through nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up super-powered outcasts known as “harbingers.”

And finally, Deadline is reporting that Sienna Miller and Diego Luna will star in Wander Darkly, a magical realism-infused romantic thriller about a couple navigating the aftermath of a devastating car crash. Tara Miele is set to direct from a script she wrote.

Lynette Howell Taylor and Samantha Housman of 51 Entertainment are producing with Shivani Rawat and Monica Levinson of ShivHans Pictures. The film begins shooting in Los Angeles later this summer.
