2018 is shaping up to be another great year in genre entertainment, which means that the casting news keeps churning. Here's a roundup of recent genre projects that have found their actors.

Season 4 of Outlander is coming to America, and so are some new characters. Colin McFarlane (The Dark Knight, Torchwood) has been cast as Ulysses -- a musician who was sold into slavery as a boy and now serves Jocasta, played by Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black). Jocasta is the aunt of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), who along with his wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will explore the new terrain of Florida in the 18th century this season, which has already begun filming.

Speaking of Florida, the talented star of recent critical darling The Florida Project, Broklynn Prince, has joined Amblin Entertainment's haunted house film "The Turning," which also stars Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror, Blade Runner 2049) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things). Floria Sigismondi (who recently directed episodes of Daredevil and The Handmaid's Tale) will direct the script, by Chad and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring), which is based on Henry James' “The Turn of the Screw.”

Strange Angel, a new show from CBS created by Mark Heyman (Black Swan) and based on the George Pendle book inspired by American engineer Jack Parsons, has found its leading man in Jack Reynor (Detroit, Transformers: Age of Extinction). The show will show Parsons' dabbles with the occult and sex magick rituals as he follows his interest in rocket engineering in 1930s Los Angeles. In addition to Heyman, Ridley Scott, David DiGilio, and David W. Zucker will executive-produce. Rocket pioneer, the occult, and sex magick all in one show? What more could you ask for?

Whether you're looking for a terrifying thrill or your next favorite TV show, it looks like there will be plenty of content for the foreseeable future.
