We’ve got some new actors joining genre projects and skipping from Earth to space to — in the case of Detective Pikachu — the edge of reason.

First off, we have a new supervillain coming the way of Barry Allen in The Flash with the casting of what could be the DC Comics villain Pyro. And, in continuing the oddly musical tradition of the Arrowverse, he’s coming in the form of another Glee veteran:

Max Adler joins his former co-stars Grant Gustin (The Flash), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Blake Jenner (Supergirl), and Darren Criss (The Flash and Supergirl) in the realm of the DCEU as Jaco Birch. Birch is “an obsessive music fanatic who worships at the altar of classic heavy metal,” as per The CW, and will make his debut in March.

We’ll see if the flame thrower’s abilities come from an ancient magic user in this world (a la the comics), but his heat powers and heated disposition will surely stay the same.

Our other piece of casting news today is that Richard Dreyfuss will enter into a Willy Wonka-style competition to go into space.

Looking for a golden ticket in Astronaut, Dreyfuss will join Colm Feore in Shelagh McLeod’s directorial debut. Dreyfuss plays a widower beset by illness who must combat his family to live out one final dream.

Astronaut just wrapped production, while The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW.
