The sequels to two horror films (one horror-comedy, one horror thriller) have added to their casts in this edition of SYFY WIRE's casting roundup.
The bulk of the cast and creative team from the original are returning for the sequel, with Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin reprising their roles, Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) returning to helm Zombieland 2, and original writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese on board to pen the sequel. Sadly, it’s doubtful that we’ll be seeing Bill Murray again. (But, hey. This movie’s all about zombies, so let’s not rule it out entirely.)
Plot details to the film are scarce, apart from that the sequel to the 2009 horror comedy will chronicle the further adventures of our road-tripping zombie-killing heroes and introduce new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie and introduces some new human survivors.
Zombieland 2 will go into production in January and is set to be released in October 2019 — 10 years after the first film was released. (Wow. Where did our lives go?)
Meanwhile, the cast for The Boy 2 continues to grow. Owain Yeoman (American Sniper, Turn) and Ralph Ineson (Ready Player One, The Witch) have been cast in William Brent Bell’s horror thriller The Boy 2, from STXfilms and Lakeshore Entertainment, Deadline has revealed. Katie Holmes is set to star as Liza.
The sequel to the 2016 film centers on a young family that moves into the Heelshire Mansion, where the young son makes friends with an unnervingly lifelike doll he calls Brahms. Why the parents don’t immediately destroy the doll, burn the house down and leave town forever is beyond us, but hey. To each their own.
Yeoman will play Liza’s husband, Sean. Ineson has been cast as Joseph. It was recently reported that Christopher Convery will play their son Jude.
The Boy 2 begins shooting in Victoria, British Columbia on January 14, 2019.
