Two upcoming streaming sci-fi shows are rapidly expanding their casts as they inch closer to their big debuts.
First, the cast of Swamp Thing keeps getting bigger. Following the recent news that Crystal Reed will headline the upcoming sci-fi/horror drama as CDC researcher Abby Arcane, Deadline has revealed that Maria Sten (Channel Zero) will co-star opposite Reed as a series regular.
Sten will play Liz Tremayne, a close childhood friend of Abby’s, who divides her time between reporting for the local paper and bartending at her father’s bar.
Based on characters from DC created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane (Reed) returning to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. During her investigation, Abby develops a romantic bond with scientist Alec Holland, only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties descend on Houma, Abby will learn that the swamp holds many secrets, and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
