A Walking Dead star joins the Swamp Thing cast, Adam Scott is ready to party down with the newly revived Twilight Zone, and Cobra Kai casts a troubled teen (or rather, casts a 20-year-old actress to play a troubled teen) in this edition of SYFY WIRE’s casting roundup.

First up, Jeryl Prescott will join the cast of Swamp Thing as Madame Xanadu, Warner Bros. Television announced. The Walking Dead star will be a series regular on the upcoming live-action series.

In the official description of her character from Warner Bros., Madame Xanadu is a centuries-old sorceress who gets drawn into a battle against growing supernatural forces plaguing a small Louisiana town. And although her heart is in the right place, her methods for battling the forces of evil are what one can charitably describe as “unorthodox.”

Xanadu first appeared in Doorway to Nightmare #1, written by David Michelinie with art by Val Mayerik, in 1978. The character appeared in several other DC comics for decades before getting her own solo title in 2008. There, it was revealed her real name was Nimue Inwudu, and that she had ties to King Arthur, the wizard Merlin, and Etrigan the Demon.

Based on characters from DC created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small Louisiana town. Soon, she discovers that the swamp holds terrifying secrets and unspeakable horrors.

James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear, and Len Wiseman are executive producers. Verheiden & Dauberman are writing the first episode and Len Wiseman is set to direct.

Swamp Thing will debut on DC Universe next year.

Next, Adam Scott of Parks & Recreation and Ghosted fame will join the cast of Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone reboot for CBS All Access, the network announced.

Scott will star in the episode “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet,” a remake of an episode from the original series starring William Shatner (and directed by Richard Donner!) as a white-knuckle flyer who sees a gremlin destroying the wing of the airplane on which he’s flying. It was later remade as a segment for the 1983 movie with John Lithgow in the starring role.

As previously reported, Sanaa Lathan will star in the episode “Rewind.” Peele will host and narrate the series. Principal photography on the show officially began in Vancouver on Oct. 1.

The re-imagined Zone is expected to hit CBS All Access sometime next year.

Finally, sweep the leg, YouTube! Peyton List (Light As A Feather) has been cast as a series regular for the second season of Cobra Kai, the new Karate Kid sequel series on YouTube Red.

Deadline is reporting that List will play Tory, a troubled teen new to the Valley. We don’t have any more information about her character beyond that description, so until we hear otherwise, we’re going to go ahead and assume that (Daniel LaRusso) Ralph Macchio and (Johnny Lawrence) William Zabka will be competing to be her sensei.

Cobra Kai, which follows The Karate Kid adversaries Daniel and Johnny as adults who take on new students, turned out to be a major hit for YouTube’s premium service, garnering more than 51 million views at its peak.
