The CW's Supergirl is getting political with its latest bit of casting replacement news.
Babylon 5 and Tron alum Bruce Boxleitner will be joining Season 4 in the recurring role of Vice President Baker. Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Independence Day) was originally cast, but had to depart the role due to a personal family matter that clashed with the show's filming.
Baker is described as, "adept and politically minded. [He] makes for an unlikely leader, but steps in a big way up when his country needs him most."
No stranger to genre, Boxleitner partly started his acting career with 1982's Tron, where he played Tron/Alan Bradley. He reprised the role in 2010's Tron: Legacy and even voiced the character on the animated Disney XD series Tron: Uprising.
He also portrayed Captain John J. Sheridan on Babylon 5 between 1994 and 1998 with his performance earning him a Saturn Award nomination.
Season 4 of Supergirl premieres on Sunday, Oct. 14 on The CW.
Another CW show, iZombie, has gained an unlikely cast member for its final season in the form of former basketball players and pop culture critic Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news, revealing that Abdul-Jabbar will be playing Zed, "one of just two Seattle City Council members who didn't flee the city before the wall went up. Zed is a zombie, and his fellow council member is a human, thus creating a unique form of gridlock at city hall."
The star of the series, Rose McIver, confirmed the casting news by tweeting a picture of herself standing next to the 7-foot-2 Abdul-Jabbar.
You might have been a fan of his when he played on the Bucks or Lakers, but he'll always be Roger Murdock from Airplane! to us.
The fifth and final season of iZombie is set to premiere on The CW in 2019.
And finally, a bit of casting news from the SYFY homefront, where Anthony Ingram has been added to Season 4 of The Magicians as Manphibian, aka Lord Fresh, aka Lord of All Fillorian Fresh Water, Entertainment Weekly reported.
“Lord Fresh is exactly the kind of royal courtier I’d be in Fillory — loyal, hard-working, web-footed, and able to hold my breath for 2 hours,” said executive producer John McNamara.
Get your first look at Ingram in his del Toro-esque fishy makeup and prosthetics below:
“Lord Fresh for me is a man frog, but a lord, hence his beautifully detailed coat. So even if he lives in a swampy environment, he still has elegance and takes pride in his appearance,” said Guidasci, who also gave EW some behind-the-scenes photos of Lord Fresh’s costumes. “The attention in the design is in the details, such as the lily pads he wears on his lapel. He is the lotus flower of the swamp," added costume designer Magali Guidasci.
Season 4 of The Magicians will consist of 13 episodes and debut in 2019.
