Following the release of the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s Castlevania animated series, a cool international poster has dropped.

What’s even cooler about this particular piece of promo art is that it was directly inspired by the original NES Konami video game box art. You can see the series’ hero (a currently unnamed member of the “disgraced Belmont clan”) facing the castle and wielding a whip, with the Prince of Darkness himself (aka Dracula) looming in the background. I’ve included both images below so you can compare and contrast, but before you do, read up on the official synopsis:

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

Castlevania will debut on July 7 on Netflix, with a second season slated for 2018.
