Most of us are still digesting the new look of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After the first trailer dropped, the film's overall tone was a hot topic of discussion. But we noticed a glaring omission from the footage: Master Splinter. The Turtles' father figure was nowhere to be found. Until now.

In the first TV spot for the film, we get a quick glimpse at the mutant rat. It's a blink and you'll miss it moment, but it's the saving grace of the ad. It was recently announced that Tony Shaloub would voice the character, whom we hear declare, "Nothing is as strong as family." The promo also shows Splinter wielding a sword, which means he may get in on the action too.

We always loved that about the character. He may be old, but he can still kick butt.

You can spot him at the 12 second mark in the video below.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox, William Fichtner, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard and Adam Ritchson. The film opens in theaters Aug. 8.
