The CBS network has decided to join in the year-end awards-show fun with The 2018 Gamers' Choice Awards. The awards show will be chosen by fans, who vote for their favorite video games across a number of categories.
Just how many? Game Informer got the list of nominees, which includes a whopping 49 categories for video games, ranging from 5-10 nominations in each. They range from "Fan Favorite Action Game" to "Fan Favorite Retro Character," all the way to "Fan Favorite Voice Actors" and three categories for "Fan Favorite Celebrity Gamer," including Actor, Athlete, and Musician.
You can check out the full list of nominees here, which breaks them down in three broader areas: Gaming, Esports, and Pop Culture. Big-name console titles like God of War and Spider-Man are featured prominently, as are some of the year's most popular mobile, sports, and MMO games.
Interestingly, the game that's made one of the biggest splashes this year, Red Dead Redemption 2, is not nominated. It's unclear why it was omitted, but considering its release so late in the year, it could have been a deadline issue. Even though its eligible in this year's The Game Awards.
The awards show will be hosted by talk-show mainstay Carrie Keagan and Marcus "Djwheat" Graham, who's also the director of Twitch studios, which specializes in live stream gaming.
To make your voice heard, you can create an account over at the 2018 Gamers' Choice Awards website. When that's all said and done, you can see how your fellow gamers decided to cast their votes when the show itself airs its one-hour telecast on Sunday, December 9th on CBS.
