When it comes to Gambit, we have one less thing to worry about. Channing Tatum and Fox have finally found a director willing to take on the X-Men stand-alone. Not only did they hire someone talented, they hired someone who's no stranger to the studio or reboots.

According to EW, Gambit will be directed by Rupert Wyatt. Wyatt is best known for 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The film was both critically and commercially successful and introduced a new generation to what was once considered a dated franchise.

Wyatt will work with Tatum in more than one capacity. Not only does Tatum play the title character, he also serves as a producer on the film. The actor's stated more than once that Gambit is a property he's very passionate about. Being raised in the south (Alabama), he felt a kinship with the character. It also doesn't hurt that Tatum's father is from Gambit's homebase, Louisiana.

Gambit has been rumored to appear in next summer's X-Men: Apocalyse. Some believe he'll cameo as one of the villain's Four Horseman, a title Gambit carried once upon a time in the comics.

Gambit is slated to hit theaters Oct. 7, 2016.

Do you think Wyatt's the right man for the job?
