Most genre fans are getting a nightly dose of Charie Cox these days, thanks to Netflix’s Daredevil, and now Marvel’s newest star has opened up about what comes next.

Cox chatted with Collider for a lengthy interview about his time on Daredevil, touching on everything from his favorite moments from season one to what fans might expect in the upcoming second season. The actor teased that this series represents the "next evolutionary step in the Marvel Cinematic Universe," and we’d be hard pressed not to agree. These street level stories have opened up a whole new corner to explore, largely free from the tentpole films.

Speaking of those tentpole films, Cox was asked (for likely the billionth time) about the odds of him popping up in a future Marvel film (i.e. Captain America: Civil War). Though he said he’d "love nothing more" than to be included, he said he has "heard nothing" about bringing his character to the big screen. Of course, that’s what he’d likely say regardless, but probably no one other than Kevin Feige would know the answer to that at this point.

Looking toward the show’s second season, Cox said he believes there are still several iconic storylines and characters left to explore, including “lots of moments or series” from the character’s lengthy catalog. As great as season one was, they’ve only scratched the surface of the Daredevil canon. So, yeah, season two has the potential to be awesome. Cox also chimed in on how season two will fit into the grand plan leading up to The Defenders miniseries:

"It’s certainly possible, and there’s no reason you couldn’t do two shows at he same time. In these first four, the characters are relatively autonomous. But there’s no reason you couldn’t do Luke Cage and Daredevil season two at the same time."

We completely agree, and it seems that’ll likely be the plan, looking at how the schedule lines up with A.K.A. Jessica Jones, up next, then Luke Cage likely next on the list.

Check out the full 12+ minute interview below, which is well worth a watch. You can really see Cox’s enthusiasm for the universe and the character, and he seems genuinely psyched to be a part of this world.
