The Angels and Bosley just gained a new member of the team in... Bosley?
The latest news in the Charlie’s Angels reboot, directed by Elizabeth Banks, finds former X-Men leader and soon-to-be-current Star Trek actor Patrick Stewart in negotiations to play Bosley, the go-between for the Angels and the group's benefactor, Charlie Townsend. He joins Banks, who is also playing a Bosley in the film.
In a change from the original series and movies, this version of the Townsend Agency is an intelligence organization with teams of Angels all around the world. It looks like “Bosley” will now be a code name for each team’s handlers, rather than an actual, single person.
The film will focus on a team played by Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. No word on which Bosley will be working with the Angels, but we can assume both Banks and Stewart will have some interaction with them.
From Banks’ work in both The Hunger Games and the Pitch Perfect series, she has an understanding of how to balance the drama, action, and comedy that Charlie’s Angels is known to have. Adding someone as charismatic as Patrick Stewart is only going increase its chances for success.
Charlie’s Angels opens sometime in 2019.
