If you're hunting for some exotic accommodations to liven up your family vacation, Disney World in Florida has a remote place to rest your head in a galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars Land, aka Galaxy's Edge, is scheduled to open at Disney Parks on both coasts sometime in 2019, and among the many amusements, attractions, and eateries, Floridian guests will also be able to park their posteriors in an awesome Star Wars-themed hotel geared toward vacationing geeks and casual fans alike circa 2021.
New concept art motion stills were just released by Disney Parks, giving fans a better idea of what to expect when this $1,000-per-night cosmic inn opens its doors in the near future.
Disney World's expansion plans at Hollywood Studios include all the lasers and blasters of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and will be steeped in Star Wars lore and legends, including a full-scale Millennium Falcon replica. But only the Eastern addition will score an out-of-this-world resort hotel closely tied into the fresh territory.
As part of the illusion, overnight guests at the hotel will be encouraged to dress up in Star Wars cosplay attire and will be welcomed by cast members portraying familiar Star Wars characters.
Here's how Disney Parks describes it:
"The immerse experience offered at this hotel will stand out among all of our resorts around the globe. As you can see, families visiting this resort will board a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during their voyage through the galaxy – and every window has a view of space!
"The resort will also be seamlessly connected to the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, allowing guests a complete Star Wars experience. Guests visiting the resort will be welcome to participate as a resident of the galaxy by dressing in Star Wars-inspired attire."
Disney Resorts' flashy new Star Wars expansions will be set on an entirely new planetary destination named Batuu, which is a warm, temperate trading outpost teeming with droids, scoundrels, aliens, and bandits.
Here's a more detailed description of the planet courtesy of Imagineer and Disney Creative Executive Scott Trowbridge:
"This remote outpost on the galaxy's edge was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It's also a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order."
How much would you plunk down to spend the night in this proposed Star Wars-themed spaceship bed and breakfast, and how long would you wait to relax inside its spacey interiors?
