One of the best things about getting a new cinematic Batman is that the Caped Crusader always comes with new toys, and Ben Affleck's version of the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is no different. We've known since San Diego Comic-Con last year that his Dark Knight would be packing some Dark Knight Returns-style armor for his inaugural clash with Superman, and we've known for months that he's got a brand new incarnation of the Batmobile.
When the first trailer for the film finally landed a couple of weeks ago, we got a better look at the armor, and a even a little extra behind-the-scenes footage so we could get to know the new Batmobile just a little bit better, but everyone thought they'd glimpsed something just a bit more interesting in the shadows of that trailer: A new Batwing. Batman's had some kind of flying device on the big screen for a long time, from the not-so-subtle bat-shaped jet of Michael Keaton to the very tactical "Bat" in The Dark Knight Rises. And here, courtesy of Umberto Gonzalez, is the Batman v Superman version:
RT! #EXCLUSIVE! #AskElMayimbe Your first detailed look at the #BATWING from #BatmanvSuperman! That's the logo from my new outlet watermaked on bottom right. For now we're just a symbol. "People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy and I can't do that as Bruce Wayne. As a man, I'm flesh and blood, I can be ignored, I can be destroyed; but as a symbol...as a symbol I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting." #Batman #HH #dccu #dccomics #dc #dcmovie

To my eye, it's a bit of a blend of tactically and aesthetically cool. It's more obviously Bat-shaped than the Nolan version, but more tactical than the Burton one. Plus, it definitely looks like the cockpit's shape lends itself to something that could detach and be deployed on the water. Two vehicles in one design? We'll see.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016. What do you think of Batman's new ride?
