We may still be three months away from the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but thanks to early images and a savvy toy release, the film already has big new stars. And I'm not talking about Benicio Del Toro or Laura Dern. I'm talking about Porgs.
Yes, the adorable new creatures set to encounter everyone from Luke Skywalker to Chewbacca have taken fandom by storm. They're getting the same kind of love that the adorable droid BB-8 was getting around the time The Force Awakens was headed for its release, and it's no secret that they're getting comparisons to Ewoks. So, naturally, fan art was sure to follow.
Among the best of it: this mash-up by artist Michael Pasquale that casts a giant version of a Porg as the title character in Hayao Miyazaki's classic film My Neighbor Totoro. Add in anime-style versions of Rey and BB-8 at the Catbus stop, and it's an instant heartwarmer.
