It seems like everybody is getting into the spirit of Star Wars this year as The Force Awakens gets set to soar into the box office record books in December. On Saturday, Boeing opened the hanger doors at its wide-body assembly faclity in Everett, Washington and rolled out one of its Star Wars edition 787 Dreamliner super-jets sporting a shiny new R2-D2 paint scheme. The blue and white beauty was paraded out into the ceremonial crowd to a fanfare of Star Wars music, joined by esteemed guests C-3PO, R2-D2 and a squad of stormtroopers.
Take a look..
Ordered by the Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA), this epic R2-D2 jet is scheduled to take its first passenger flight on October 18th, 2015, with a maiden run from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Vancouver, Canada. Two other Star Wars makeover designs start flying in 2016 and will feature the rolling droid BB-8 on one of ANA's Boeing 777-300ER planes and a Boeing 767-300 featuring both BB-8 and R2-D2.
How do you like this lofty tribute to the famous astromech droid?
