The adventures of Darth Vader as young Luke and Leia's beleaguered father continue.
One of the surprise Star Wars success stories has come in the form of Jeffrey Brown's short comic series that imagines what would have happened if Darth Vader had actually raised Luke and Leia. Including his Jedi Academy comic, there have been three so far in the series. There's a fourth book on its way, called Goodnight Darth Vader, and, if we judge a book by its cover, it might be the cutest one yet.
This version will take on the style of a bedtime story, and here's a small glimpse from the press release of what we can expect.
“It’s bedtime on Kashyyyk for all the Wookiees
so now they climb high to sleep up in the trees.
The bounty hunters tuck in, all ready and set
except for young Boba and his dad, Jango Fett.”
Vader may be ready for his kids to go to sleep, but his twins, Luke and Leia, want a bedtime story first–one that involves the aliens, heroes, villains, and monsters of their world. From Han Solo and Chewbacca to Boba Fett and baby Ewoks, from the wampa ice creature to Jawas, all of the galaxy’s denizens are getting ready for a night’s rest in this delightful story told in verse, with plenty of nods to the rich Star Wars narrative.
Aww! I mean, Vader's a bad dude for a long time and responsible for the deaths of countless lives. But, aww!
Goodnight, Darth Vader is set to debut at San Diego Comic Con this summer.
