Check out Earthworm Jim creator's new, playable post-apocalyptic comic

The guy behind the freakily fun classic videogame Earthworm Jim has a new cross-genre project in the works that melds both comics and videogames. Get ready for SXPD.

The digital book tells the story of an all-female police force in the violent, post-apocalyptic future. It’s the brainchild of David Perry, aka the guy who made the 16-bit hit Earthworm Jim. It’s an interesting concept, shifting from panels to racing-style gameplay, but SXPD is getting rave reviews.

Here’s what Perry told The Verge about the project:

“Comics are very immersive stories — it's more than a page of words, it's a style, a feel, an energy that is emitted by the comic book artist. I feel like you're entering the world of the comic book artist, and I think there's no better way to do that than in a video game.”
