If you’ve ever wondered how they map out those massive action set pieces on The Walking Dead, this pretty much sits us inside the writers’ room.

Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead season-five premiere!

The network has released the storyboards used by director Greg Nicotero to create the fiery downfall of the Terminus community, singlehandedly orchestrated by Carol (Melissa McBride). As anyone who saw the episode can attest, it made for one of the show’s most ambitious episodes — and it took some meticulous planning to make it all come together.

Along with obviously setting up how the action will play out, the storyboards also reveal puppeteer placement and off-camera rigs used to make it all look so insane on our televisions at home. Really, the only thing missing from the storyboard is the note in the intro that “Carol Goes Insanely Badass and Is Awesome.” But we digress.

Check out the storyboards below via Entertainment Weekly and let us know what you thought of the episode.
