One of the best Halloween offerings of the fall season is getting a Christmas special. That'd be Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, according to creator/showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (also the master maestro of The CW's Riverdale).
"Praise Satan! I mean, Praise Santa!" wrote Aguirre-Sacasa on Twitter in an emoji-heavy post. "@sabrinanetflix has a X-mas Special dropping on 12/14!! I love this episode of #CAOS!! @netflix."
Even in the face of a potential $50 million lawsuit, the fantasy series reboot has much to celebrate. Since its debut in late October, Sabrina has racked up extremely positive reviews from critics, earning a well-deserved 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The show is riding a critical wave for its vibe of timeless horror, a clever approach to telling a feminist story, and the kind of teen thriller action of sister series Riverdale. With the first season already binged, a Christmas special will make for a welcome holiday
Kiernan Shipka stars as the eponymous half-mortal witch, torn between the mortal and magical worlds as her 16th birthday approaches. At this age, she must abandon her normal life for a chance to devote herself to the Dark Lord and attend the prestigious Academy of the Unseen Arts.
The Chilling special drops on Netflix Dec. 14, one week before the winter solstice.
