Kiernan Shipka's Sabrina Spellman and her fellow witches from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are celebrating the holidays as only they would: by burning a yule log, singing pagan carols, and telling ghost stories during the longest night of the year.
But things aren't all merriment and witchcraft at the Church of the Night, as Netflix's first trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale reveals. Instead of peace and quiet, the witch's solstice celebration quickly gets derailed by haunted nutcracker dolls, a sinister Santa Claus, some old-fashioned hauntings, and more.
Along with the upcoming seasonal offering, which is part of the new onslaught of Christmas-themed programming being offered by Netflix this year, it was recently revealed in another trailer that the unofficial Riverdale spinoff's second season already has a release date set: April 5.
In addition to all the usual pagan merriment, A Midwinter's Tale will also feature actress and uncanny Kiernan Shipka dead ringer McKenna Grace playing a young Sabrina, though it's unclear how her role will come into play.
The one-off holiday special was directed by Riverdale alum Jeff Wollnough from a script written by Donna Thorland and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who first announced A Midwinter's Tale on Twitter last month. It'll be available to stream on Netflix starting on Dec. 14 — just one week before the actual winter solstice.
