Chosen One of the Day: Brak's 'Don't Touch Me'

There are so many reasons to love Cartoon Network’s absurdist romp that was Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and in 1997 one of those reasons was Brak and his song “Don’t Touch Me”. 

Let me start at the beginning. In 1966 — wait no, let me start in the middle, in 1994. When Cartoon Network brought Space Ghost back and turned it into something less earnest, they brought his cast of characters. One of these characters was an intergalactic space pirate who… might be a cat? Maybe he is wearing a cat mask? I don’t know, it’s unclear and it doesn’t really matter. Brak is Brak and Brak is a musician. 

Brak gave us the most important song of 2020 over two decades ago. 

Whoa! Hey! 
Don’t touch me! 

I want to blast this from my phone any time I am forced to leave my house to forage for food (aka go to the grocery store). I want to blast it if anyone tries to social close to me.

I will beatbox out of the room screaming along to these lyrics like I am 11 years old and listening to Jagged Little Pill.
