Cabin Fever is a weird movie. Gory body horror, bizarro comedy, exercise in masturbatory self-casting featuring Eli Roth in TWO ROLES, and a reminder that Shawn from Boy Meets World is only hot when he's not the sadsack "nice guy." Ugh, how very dare you, Eli?
But mostly it's a commercial for pancakes.
Apropos of nothing, this film, in which teens contract some manner of flesh-eating bacteria and literally fall apart before our very eyes, one of them eaten alive by a dog, also features a mulleted karate boy screaming about pancakes. It's fine. Also, that's his real hair.
And lest you think that this wholly nutsbonkers role was the end of the line for this strange child, this is not the case at all. Today, Matthew Helms, who played Dennis the pancake aficionado, is a dancer with the Boulder Ballet. He's kicking and leaping and pancaking FOR THE ART OF THE DANCE! Because there's nothing you can't achieve with some gusto and a love of breakfast foods.
Also, at least it's a food-related word we associate with Eli Roth that isn't blueberries. (You can Google that one yourself, and don't say I didn't warn you.)
