Chosen One of the Day: Jeff Goldblum's silver shirt

When a silver fox decides to wear a silver shirt, we all win. This was the case at the Los Angeles Thor: Ragnarok premiere in 2017 when Jeff Goldblum rocked up looking like he had dipped his shirt in liquid metal.

Over the last couple of years, Goldblum, with the help of stylist Andrew T. Vottero — they met on a GQ shoot and have worked together since — has really upped his sartorial game. His red carpet attire has doubled down on the fun and, in doing so, doubled down on the hot-dad factor. Again, we all win.

This is a cast and creative team that boasts a number of style icons. But this isn’t a case of outdoing each other, more like complementing (and complimenting) each other. In the group shot there is a lot of gazing adoringly at Goldblum, and who can blame them? Taika Waititi’s pineapple pastel romper at Comic-Con set the bar when it comes to bold looks. To see him look at Goldblum like this, it's a seal of approval.

Tessa Thompson is constantly making Best Dressed lists. The marigold Schiaparelli Fall 2017 couture gown is a stunner, but again, the silver shirt pulls focus. Even Chris Hemsworth seems to be contemplating what a silver shirt could do for him, asking “Would it look just as good unbuttoned?”

Cate Blanchett is dripping in Gucci gold, and together they make quite the sparkly pair. As two new additions to the MCU, they know how to stand out on the red carpet. Their sartorial power combined is probably enough to defeat the Infinity Gauntlet.

Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo is feeling confident that he won’t accidentally blurt out spoilers or accidentally live-stream the opening 10 minutes of the movie. Oh, wait…

A silver shirt with a black bow tie could be heading into 1970s variety show territory, but not when Jeff Goldblum is the one wearing it. But even if he were to pull out a deck of cards and start some impromptu street magic, I would be the first one to offer my assistant services.
