Jeff Goldblum month is coming to a close here at SYFY FANGRRLS, and as we prepare to say our goodbyes we also look to some of his lesser-known but no less sublime roles as our Chosen One of the Day — like in 2001, when Goldblum officially joined the ranks of DILF-hood by appearing in the cinematic masterpiece of family movies, Cats & Dogs.
Exactly what catapults him to new heights in this film is hard to classify. Is it the sideburns? The tiny little chin scruff I think we’re meant to call a beard? Is it, perhaps, the goggles which sit atop his closely cropped hair, leaving the mullets and other variety of confusing hairstyles in the past? Or the glasses, with their barely-there frames, lending just a lilt of sophistication and intelligence to his otherwise mad scientist garb?
Or maybe, just maybe, it is the fact that his character, Professor Brody, is an animal lover working on a way to cure human allergies to dogs because he knows dogs are great and just wants us all to be happy.
What are we talking about? It’s definitely the sideburns.
