There are great Stephen King movies, and then there are most Stephen King movies. Sleepwalkers is the second kind. The story of an incestuous mother-son vampire duo, Sleepwalkers is most notable for a beautiful, perfect scene in which Alice Krige, aka the Borg Queen from Star Trek: First Contact, murders a man with an ear of corn. Your standard Stephen King fare.
It's even better than it sounds.
That is a dull, cooked ear of corn effortlessly stabbing through a poly-cotton blend police-issue shirt. I'm not sure what else you need to be told, other than the fact that the film has another death scene in which Otho from Beetlejuice gets his arm ripped off and then runs into a tree and dies from the tree-running-into-ing.
But mostly, corn. It's sweet, it's savory, it's a perfect summer side dish, and an excellent murder weapon, made even better with a little paprika and a truly incredible follow-up line:
It's even better than butter.
