AMC has reinstated Chris Hardwick as the host of Talking Dead following an investigation into abuse allegations against him. The network said in a statement: “Following a comprehensive assessment by AMC … Chris Hardwick will return to AMC as the host of Talking Dead and Talking with Chris Hardwick.”

The statement added: “We take these matters very seriously and given the information available to us after a very careful review, including interviews with numerous individuals, we believe returning Chris to work is the appropriate step.”

Hardwick was suspended as host of The Walking Dead aftershow following abuse allegations from actress and former girlfriend Chloe Dykstra. AMC tapped actress Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) to take over as interim host of Talking Dead while the network conducted its investigation. Brown also replaced Hardwick as moderator for The Walking Dead‘s San Diego Comic-Con panel. Hardwick issued his own statement denying Dykstra’s allegations shortly after they were published.

Hardwick will be back as host of Talking Dead when it returns on Aug. 12. Brown will now appear as a guest on the premiere episode and remain as host of The Walking Dead Season 9 preview special on Aug. 5, an AMC spokesperson confirmed.
