Though it's been a solid box-office staple, Marvel’s Thor franchise has never really achieved the critical success of some of the other major heroes, like Iron Man and Captain America. Well, Chris Hemsworth has a few ideas for how to fix that problem.

The answer, according to Hemsworth? Jazz up Thor: Ragnarok with some of the coolness that made Guardians of the Galaxy such a massive hit. He chatted with Cinema Blend about what the studio is cooking up for the sequel, and noted that new director Taika Waititi is bringing some of that James Gunn-y-ness to Ragnarok. Which is kind of funny, because (at least judging by the name) you’d think the third film in the Thor franchise might’ve been the darkest yet.

Here’s an excerpt from his comments:

“I think [Thor 3] needs to be injected with that sort of smart wit and unexpected kind of humor, kind of what James Gunn came in and did with Guardians [Of The Galaxy]. It was like off center and unpredictable, and I think we can definitely use a dose of that, you know?

I feel we had less of the sort of the naivety or fun or humor that the first [Thor] might have had. I wish we had more of that in the second [movie] … We’ve done regal. We’ve done Shakespeare, and we’ve shown that. I think now it’s time to go, 'Ok, cool. Let’s try something different,' and [director] Taika [Waititi] just had such a brilliant sort of take and funny kind of ideas about where we could [go], how we could do that.”

Thor: Ragnarok opens Nov. 3, 2017.

What do you think of Hemsworth’s idea? Do you want more humor in your Asgardian adventures?
