Though most of the spotlight has understandably been on the funny ladies who make up the new Ghostbusters team in Paul Feig’s reboot, there’s a part-time Avenger who apparently also steals the show.
To coincide with Administrative Professionals Day on April 27, the studio has released some new footage from the film, focusing on Chris Hemsworth’s (Thor) hilariously dumb receptionist Kevin. Though most general moviegoers only know Hemsworth for his work in the MCU (where he, admittedly, does drop a good joke or two along the way), this takes his comedy chops to a whole new level.
"Kevin is a big, dumb puppy dog," Hemsworth said. "He has no idea what they do. Kevin thinks he's going to become a Ghostbuster. He takes ahold of the equipment, gets a bike, builds his own uniform and says, 'Look, I'm one of the gang now.'"
Casting Hemsworth as the dopey receptionist was a clever move by Feig, and the actor seems to be having a blast playing against his literal superhero type. We're psyched about all the funny ladies, of course, but Hemsworth looks to be bringing his own type of zany to the film. Kevin is basically a complete imbecile, and he’s desperate to join up and take on some ghosts.
Ghostbusters opens in the U.S. and U.K. on July 15.
