Star Trek: Beyond’s Chris Pine was on hand to host this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live installment, where the actor reprised the role of Captain Kirk (with a twist!) in a Star Trek spoof: Set phasers to stun!

The twist is that Pine was actually playing the role of Kirk as William Shatner, the man who originated the role of James Tiberius Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series. The Star Trek spoof was introduced by Neil deGrasse Tyson (played by Kenan Thompson) as a lost episode (that’d be Episode 81 titled “Spock’s Brain Secret”) introducing Spock’s (Kyle Mooney) half-brother from Queens, Spocko (Bobby Moynihan).

Being Saturday Night Live, the whole thing is goofy and silly, and we even get a groovy (and slightly disturbing, I might add) dance scene on the bridge of the Enterprise. Guys, no wonder this “lost episode” has remained lost all this time! Ha!

Fun Fact: Some will recognize SNL production designer Akira Yoshimura, who is back at the helm as Mr. Sulu for the first time since 1994! Check it out:
