The Star Trek lead actor has finally decided which comic-book character he's going to play.
According to The Wrap, Chris Pine has signed a deal to portray Steve Trevor, the love interest of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, in the latter's upcoming solo movie. Pine's deal is said to include options for sequels, indicating that Warner Bros. Pictures has long-term plans for DC's leading female superhero.
Reports about Pine's involvement in Wonder Woman started circulating two months ago, but back in March there were rumors that he had been offered a chance to star as Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern reboot (now titled Green Lantern Corps) -- which led to speculation that he was being allowed to choose between either role.
It's not clear if that was ever really the case, but either way he's made his decision now. Pine will star opposite Gal Gadot, who will debut as Wonder Woman in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in the 2017 Wonder Woman movie, which is being directed by Patty Jenkins.
Pine is currently back on the bridge of the Enterprise as Captain Kirk, shooting next summer's Star Trek Beyond, but you can also see him soon in Z for Zachariah, a post-apocalyptic tale that opens on Aug. 28 and also stars Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange).
