With his Dark Knight trilogy out of the way, Christopher Nolan looks to be heading into hard sci-fi for his next big-screen adventure. Enter Interstellar.

Incorporating time travel and alternate dimensions, the script reportedly follows a team of explorers sent through a wormhole. Nolan is reportedly in talks to direct the high-concept sci-fi flick, which was written by Chris' brother Jonathan, who also collaborated on the Dark Knight films and The Prestige.

If Nolan does sign on, he'll replace a name even bigger than his own. Steven Spielberg was originally circling the film, and could stay on in some capacity, especially considering that Robopocalypse debacle just cleared up his schedule.

Nolan has always skirted around the edges of sci-fi (with the mind-bending Inception probably falling closest into the genre), so it's nice to see him finally taking the plunge.

We're definitely curious to see what he could do with a big budget and a wild premise.
