What’s more in the realm of science fiction than talking, walking toys? At least the ones in Disney’s live-action Winnie the Pooh adaptation Christopher Robin are cute. The British boy who imagined life into his stuffed animals has grown up into Ewan McGregor's titular character -- and he needs a little help remembering what it was like to have fun as a kid.
That’s all well and good, but it only works if Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet are as cute as fans remember from their animated days. With a new, full trailer for the film, audiences can put their minds at rest. Very cute.
Pooh’s cohorts are missing, and Robin needs to gather them up again in Marc Forster’s frayed and fuzzy film -- that is, until they go on a quest to save Robin from his own grown-up self. Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell plays Robin’s wife, Evelyn, while Jim Cummings provides the voice of Pooh and the springy Tigger. The aggressively heartwarming trailer has all the softness and sweetness of the original stories without feeling too sticky and saccharine like the honey Pooh often seeks.
We all return to the Hundred Acre Wood on August 3, 2018.
