Earlier this week, writer/director Shane Black unveiled the first cast photo for The Predator, his sci-fi action film that will reboot the iconic franchise featuring everyone's favorite extraterrestrial hunter. The cast is multi-talented, diverse and just damn impressive to look at, and they seem more than capable of handling the mix of drama and comedy that's become Black's action movie trademark.
As Black noted, though, it was only a partial cast, and several roles have yet to be filled. Among them is the mother to Jacob Tremblay's character, who is also the ex-wife to Boyd Holbrook's character. When her son gets pulled into the situation surrounding the emergence of the Predators (yes, plural), she gets pulled in too. According to THR, while it hasn't been finalized yet, Black wants Yvonne Strahovski to play the role.
Strahovski won nerd hearts the world over thanks to five years as Sarah Walker on the superspy comedy Chuck, and she's worked steadily ever since, picking up roles on Dexter, 24: Live Another Day and the upcoming Hulu original series adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale. Now she's on the verge of joining this awesome cast.
We have no idea how big Strahovski's role in the film might be, and we'll likely have to wait some time to find out. If you ask me, though, you don't cast someone like her and then waste her well-honed fight scene skills.
The Predator arrives Feb. 9, 2018.
