After debuting its first season back in August 2016, Cinemax's Outcast (adapted from a Robert Kirkman comic of the same name) mysteriously disappeared from the network's slate — even after it was already announced that the show had been renewed for a second season before its Season 1 premiere. Now, here we are in 2018, and Outcast is finally slated to return for what is apparently its final season.
A new teaser released from Cinemax today hints at what fans can expect after a nearly two-year gap between the first and second season. (While Season 2 is finally premiering in the United States this month, it had already been broadcast in the U.K. last year.)
Season 1 saw main character Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit) wrestling with the aftereffects of a demonic possession, as well as the repercussions his dangerous behavior had on his ex-wife Allison (Kate Lyn Shell) and daughter Amber (Madeleine McGraw). Based on this sneak peek of Season 2, it looks like things aren't getting any easier for Kyle once he decides to return to the town of Rome, West Virginia with Amber, after initially attempting to leave.
The second season cast includes returning actors Brent Spiner as mysterious preacher Sydney, Philip Glenister as Reverend John Anderson, and the late Reg E. Cathey as Chief of Police Byron Giles.
There's apparently still plenty of scares, chills, and demonic possessions to go around if the teaser above is any indication. Do you think Season 2 will be worth the long wait?
The new season of Outcast premieres July 20 on Cinemax.
